The Horrible History of TB written by: Sage Simmons
The frightening history of wars and such isn't as bad as something else... Something that can quickly happen. Can spread.... and can cause quicker and more pain in death then a hundred bullets breeding the skin.... And these are diseases. One of the worlds most feared and worst diseases ever in the history EVER is TB short for deadly Tuberculosis. OR in other words... The White Plague. For hundreds of years TB has been around. Scientists have found them on some of the dead bodies of the ancient Egyptians and others. For instance king Tutankhamun is one of them. TB is no joke. But let me start on how it is spread.
It is airborne.
1. It isn't really caused by touching things that an infected person has touched... ONLY on rare occasions.
2. It is spread through coughing and sneezing...
For instance, if a brother is infected and doesn't know, and he shares a room with his older brother.... let's call the infected brother John and the older one George. So lets say John has been coughing horribly all day and George is in the room. He has a bunk bed and John sleeps at the bottom. John is coughing and sneezing while George is climbing up. Because they are so close to each other he can't help it but breath all that TB coming from John.
3. Let's look into George and see what is happening when he breathes in the TB. So in the particles of your saliva you cough also carries germs. And John is infected coughs out TB. (Aka the White Plague) And so George breathes that in and it travels into his lungs and air pouches. And there the TB bacteria stays for a while. Then is reproduces and multiplies until there are billions of them. But one thing is... it grows sort of slowly... kind of like a fungus. So then it starts to attack the body and now this is where it gets... gross.
4. George is infected now. And very quickly gets the symptoms... His skin turns pale. He becomes skinny. Or looses his appetite. And has a horrible cough. Soon in a while he'll start to cough up blood. His body is under attack and is trying to fight back... but can't.... he is too weak.
5. TB is extremely contagious and destructive. Here's the thing... TB is a VERY stubborn bacteria. Here's why....
When somebody tries to heal they do it and then the meds grow more and more... Then they give up... But... they don't know what they are doing... Inside TB is growing immune to whatever they were taking because they stopped. Another thing is... is when they are clearing up and they think its over.... ITS NOT. NOT EVEN CLOSE! So TB goes into hibernation making it seem like they are dead... But sadly they are very stubborn and refuse to die. So after a while they wake up and do everything over again. TB.
Even though it is the 20th century... TB is still a mass problem... Not that it still has outbreaks or anything goes into extreme... No... Its just... the medicines we have for it don't work as fast as other. Guess how long it takes to fully be off the meds......
ALMOST OVER TWO WHOLE YEARS!! Crazy!! That is a problem! Now you see why I say NO! I DON'T WANT TB! Because I would easily get sick of taking lots of meds for two years.
Thank you for reading this!! I will make sure to write more about other diseases such as... Yellow Fever, Bubonic Plague/Black Death, Small Pox, Ebola, Influenza, Malaria, Diptheria, and Dengue.
