Mason Bees. My narration.

The mason bee is a wonderful creation. And you will see why. Because I will tell you what I know about them. In this case I will tell you a story of a young mason bee girl named Lavender. The mason bee looks just like a fly. Not all the time though. Sometimes they look like black bees. Have you ever heard of black wasps? People say that they don't sting or anything. I am not sure that is true. Honestly, I don't see the difference between different colored wasps and bees. But Mason bees. Oh yes! They are different.

Lavender the mason bee first was born in a tidy house nest made by her mother. She was a larva and never seen her mother. But she gracefully eats her wonderful meal that her mother prepared for her. Honey, delicious and sweet. Lavender lightly eats before she realizes that she is starving! She eats all that she can. She is nice and fat after a long a good meal she gets sleepy and start to fall asleep. Her mother goes back in and makes more food for her babies. Then she lays more eggs and covers them carefully with a hard cement.
Lavender wakes up again feeling hungry. She takes a bite of food then just sits curled up. Her body was growing very fast. " I will soon be a mason bee and be able to drink honey and have babies!"  Lavender thought to herself. She looked around the nest like home. She was feeling even more hungry. But there was no more food. She lay there wondering if it was time to be grown up and live by herself. "Is it really time to be a mason bee?"  She asked herself. "Yes! I think its time!" Lavender thought out loud. She was waiting for this wonderful moment to come and here it is. She started to prepare herself. "I will break out of this tomorrow." she said to herself warmly and fell asleep. This was the last time she would ever sleep in a little egg nest thing.

The next day she got up very early and started to hunt for food. She was the shape and looked like a mason bee. There was no food. Then she remembered that it was time to break out. She was starving! "I am so hungry! I need to get out of this tiny little spot! I will chew and break my way out so that I way not starve!" She got to work. She delicately started chewing. The nice paper like stuff broke instantly! A little hole appeared. She heard voices talking to each other. She realized her sisters and brothers had hatched before her! This made Lavender very mad and she started working more fiercely to get out! That made it harder for her. About fifteen minutes later she finally had a hole big enough to fit her body. She pocked her head through and her front two legs and pushed to get out. She squeezed and pushed and then got out. Her body was new wet and stiff! She stretched and crawled and soon waited for her wings to dry. She started to move her wings with tremondous force and speed. She lifted off the ground and was gone. All the males do after they get out is they quickly mate then die. And that is the story of Lavender.

There will be more about Lavender and her adventures don't worry!
