Dante in the boat came up to a land. The first circle of hell. He saw that there was no sadness nor happiness. There really wasn't any feelings there. He saw a beautiful castle with a patch of green grass was some poets talking of great and good things. But the light and brightness soon went away into a choking darkness. The air and darkness whirled around powerfully. Like a tornado whirling poor little birds place to place without any mercy. Soon there were two lovers and Dante cried out with love and wanting to talk to them. A women and a man named Francesca (Fran-ches-ka) and Paolo (Pow-lo). They came and Dante knew the sadness that had happened in Florence. They had died and it was like a tragedy. Their story began with Francesca getting married for business reasons. But the man who was getting married to her was deformed and didn't want to frighten the young bride so he sent his brother Paolo to represent him. But soon they fell in love. "It was like I was reading a book and he was there also. Soon we looked up from the pages only to have a glimpse of each other." Said the Francesca. Soon afterwards they vanished never to hear mercy and love spoken there again. Virgil looked at Dante after that story and then they left for the third circle of hell.
